The gap

The feedback loop between plate and planet is missing.

Food drives roughly a quarter of a European household's carbon footprint, yet at the moment of choosing a meal nobody can see its impact. "Eat sustainably" gives no concrete next step.

The scaleThe EU wastes about 59 million tonnes of food a year, roughly 132 kg per person.
The blind spotCarbon labels barely exist and footprint calculators are annual and abstract, not per-meal and practical.
Who hurtsHouseholds that want to eat better, canteens deciding menus, and communities carrying avoidable food emissions.

The solution

One plate. One score. One swap.

Build a plate, get an instant A-to-E grade for its CO2 and water footprint, and receive one concrete swap. Coaching, not lecturing.

The one-day build

Arithmetic over a bundled table.

The ingredient database (per-100g CO2e and water values) and the swap rules ship inside the app as plain lookup tables. The country toggle for Cyprus, Hungary, and Lithuania is the built-in transnational angle.

The 3-minute pitch

  1. Hook: "Which has the bigger footprint, your lunch or your commute? Today, lunch."
  2. Build a beef souvlaki plate live: score E. Apply the lentil swap: score B, with the water saving spelled out.
  3. Show the weekly trend and flip the country toggle: the same app coaches a plate in Larnaca, Budapest, or Kaunas.

Why it wins

Judges' scorecard.

FeasibilityPure arithmetic and rules over a bundled table; the lowest-risk logic of the whole idea set.
ImpactTargets the largest everyday footprint category with a concrete action per meal.
User-friendlinessAn A-to-E score is understood in one glance; one suggested swap, not a lecture.
